How the Whering App Made Packing for 3 Weeks in Costa Rica Easy (and Stress-Free)

When we planned our three-week trip to Costa Rica, I knew I had a challenge ahead: pack for multiple climates—all in one carry-on. We’d be spending two weeks exploring the lush rainforests and one week soaking in the beach sunshine. I didn’t want to overpack, but I also didn’t want to end up without the right clothes.

That’s when the Whering app became a quiet little game changer.

Planning Ahead with Intention

I have to admit that Whering has become my “little obsession”. I have spent a few evenings (well maybe more than a few) uploading photos of my clothes into the Whering app. It is fun to see everything in one place—like having a mini digital closet on my phone. I started building outfits that would work for Costa Rica’s varying weather: breathable layers for the humid rainforest, lightweight tops, exploring appropriate pants and a swimsuit for the beach, and a few versatile pieces that could be dressed up or down.

The app allowed me to create outfits ahead of time, so I wasn’t just guessing. I knew what tops went with what bottoms, and I made sure every piece had multiple uses. It was surprisingly satisfying to see the whole trip come together visually. I also have uploaded all of my traveling gear because the app generates a packing list.

Assigning Outfits to Each Day

One feature I loved was being able to assign outfits to each day of the trip. I had a loose itinerary already, so it made sense to match outfits to our activities. I labeled days like “Rainforest Hike,” “Beach Day,” and “Travel Day” and picked an outfit for each.

Of course, Costa Rica’s weather can be unpredictable, especially in the rainforest. So each evening, I’d quickly check the weather and, if needed, swap an outfit around in the app. It took five minutes—no digging through my bag or second-guessing my choices.

Travel Made Simpler

What surprised me most was how much mental space this freed up during the trip. I wasn’t standing in front of my bag wondering what to wear. I wasn’t worried about forgetting something or packing too much. Everything I brought had a purpose, and I actually wore it all. Each night I would take off my outfit of the day and pull out the next days outfit. My luggage stayed very organized and I got a couple extra minutes of sleep in the morning because my clothes were already to go.

This was my second time using Whering to plan a trip, and both times it’s made travel smoother and more enjoyable. For anyone who likes to travel light or wants to be more intentional with their packing, I’d absolutely recommend giving it a try.

A Small Shift That Made a Big Difference

There are a lot of tools out there for travelers, but this one helped me with something that used to be a source of stress—packing. And while it might not sound like a big thing, having clothing sorted out ahead of time let me focus on what really mattered: soaking in the beauty of Costa Rica, fully present.

If you’re planning a trip and want to feel a little more prepared (without overthinking), this might be worth exploring. No pressure—just sharing what worked for me.

Happy packing,

Shelly
